Token Plan: do not buy it, the API is twice the value

Xiaomi's MiMo subscription. Lite and Standard hand back less usage than you pay for, and the best case — Max billed annually — is 1.35x. The same company's API is half price right now, which is 2x.

What the headline leaves out

  • Lite is $6 for $5.95 of usage and Standard is $16 for $15.95. Those two are not a discount, they are a loss.
  • Monthly is 1.10x on Pro and 1.19x on Max. Paying annually only takes it to 1.25x and 1.35x.
  • MiMo's own API rates are half price: $27.55 buys the $55.10 the Pro plan's quota is worth. That is 2x, and it is why the plan is pointless.
  • The dollar figures are the plan's credit quota converted at API rates. Credits turn into tokens at each model's own rate.
